Via ferrata and zip line at Estancia Bonanza

Two hours of vertical adventure with panoramic views of Fitz Roy. A circuit equipped with safety cables, steps, stairs and bridges that allows you to ascend the mountain without knowing how to climb, and which ends with a descent on a zip line.

The via ferrata runs 600 meters with a 200-meter elevation change. It's a system equipped with a steel cable to which you're secured with a harness and carabiners, allowing you to ascend terrain that would otherwise require technical climbing. The closure is a 50-meter zip line with a view of the Andes and the massif.

No prior experience is necessary. It's the shortest adventure activity in the catalog: you can complete it in a mid-morning or mid-afternoon.

    What is a via ferrata?

It's a mountain route equipped with staples, steps, ladders, and bridges, plus a continuous steel cable to which the climber is secured by a harness and two carabiners. It allows access to vertical terrain without climbing technique. Originating in the Alps, it's now one of the most popular ways to get started at heights.

    Two hours, and that's it.

It's the shortest adventure activity in the catalog. That makes it ideal for combining with other activities: fit it into the same day as a half-day hike, or as a plan for an afternoon when the weather doesn't allow you to go up to the park's viewpoints.

    Where is Estancia Bonanza located?

It's located at Km 12 of Provincial Route 41, in the Río de las Vueltas Valley, about 11 km from El Chaltén. The meeting point for the transfer is Av. San Martín 48, and it's best to arrive 15 minutes before from the start time. Those arriving by car can go directly to the accommodation.

The path is vertical: It is not suitable for people with vertigo.. Minimum age 14 years and minimum weight 40 kg, which is a safety requirement. Not suitable during pregnancy. Closed footwear is mandatory.

Which one suits you best?

If you have little time and want to try altitude → I chose Via ferrata and zip line. Two hours at Estancia Bonanza, without the full day required for the Ice Trek.
If you want the most complete adventure of the destination → I chose Ice Trek Cagliero. It's the only glacier trek in El Chaltén and combines a via ferrata and a Tibetan bridge in the same day. It requires good physical condition and no fear of heights.
If you are looking for adrenaline in half a day → I chose Rafting. It starts in calm waters overlooking Fitz Roy and continues with 10 km of Class III and III+ rapids inside the canyon.
If you want the river without adrenaline → I chose Kayak. Same scenery as rafting but on calm waters, at your own pace, with a country brunch halfway through the trip.
