Frequently Asked Questions
-
What exactly is a via ferrata?
It's a mountain route equipped with staples, steps, ladders, and bridges, plus a continuous steel cable to which you're secured with a harness and two carabiners. It allows you to ascend vertical terrain without climbing techniques: you're always attached to the cable.
-
Do I need prior experience?
No. The system is designed so that anyone can do it with the guide's instruction. What is needed is not to have vertigo, because the route is vertical and in several sections there is free fall below.
-
Why is there a minimum weight of 40 kg?
It's a safety requirement: the harness's energy absorbers are calibrated to activate above a certain weight. Below 40 kg they don't function properly, which is why children under 14 are not allowed.
-
What's the difference between this and the Ice Trek Cagliero?
The Ice Trek It also includes a via ferrata, but within a full 18 km day trip that combines forest trekking and glacier hiking with crampons. This activity lasts two hours and only covers the vertical section: it's the shorter and much less demanding version.
-
Is it cancelled if it rains?
It is carried out in light rain. It is suspended in the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds, as these are the conditions that compromise safety on vertical terrain.
