The Cerro Torre It stands 3,128 meters tall and boasts an almost vertical silhouette crowned by an ice mushroom. More exposed to Pacific fronts than Fitz Roy, it spends even more time shrouded in mist. When clear, it's one of the most breathtaking sights in the region.
The icebergs of the Great Glacier
The lagoon receives calving from the Glaciar Grande, which flows down from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Depending on the day, there may be large icebergs floating or just fragments against the shore: it changes from week to week.
No transfers, from the village
This is one of the advantages of El Chaltén over other mountain destinations: the trail starts at the last houses. There's no need to hire transportation or add extra driving time to your day.
The activity is subject to weather and operational conditions. The guide may modify the route for safety reasons. The wind in the final moraine area is usually strong: it is advisable to bring a jacket even if the day starts off mild.
