The excursion season runs from October to mid-April. Between December and February, the days are longer and the weather more stable, but it's also more crowded and tours fill up faster. October, November, March, and April are less busy and offer better prices, with more variable weather and shorter days. Regardless of the month, you should be prepared to experience all four seasons in a single day.<\/p>\n
Three days is the minimum reasonable amount of time. The weather changes quickly, and it's common to lose a day to wind or rain, so it's best to have some leeway. With three days, you can combine a challenging trek, a boat trip, and a lighter activity. With two days, choose between hiking or sailing. With just one day, you can do either the trek to Laguna de los Tres or the boat trip to the Viedma Glacier.<\/p>\n
The usual access is from El Calafate, about three hours away via Route 40 and Route 23, with the classic stop at La Leona. The nearest airport is El Calafate. In the case of Laguna de los Tres, a guide allows you to complete the entire circuit from the R\u00edo El\u00e9ctrico Bridge without repeating any trails, making for a more varied trek. Reservations are required for boat trips, ice trekking, rafting, and other activities at the park.<\/p>\n Yes, several. The navigation to the Viedma Glacier<\/a> It can be enjoyed from the boat and has an optional short trek. Desert Lake with the Vespignani Glacier<\/a> It allows you to choose between three trails, including one that is 800 meters long with no elevation gain. Horseback riding at Estancia Bonanza<\/a> They do not require prior experience. And the trekking to Laguna Capri<\/a> It is a half-day trip with low to medium difficulty.<\/p>\n It depends on the activity. The boat trip to Viedma Glacier is open to all ages, and children under three are free. Horseback riding is available for children under eight when accompanied by an adult. Guided treks, however, have a minimum age of 12, and adventure activities like via ferrata or ice trekking require a higher age. It takes place in the Los Huemules Reserve, a private reserve far from the main tourist routes, and combines a hike through a lenga forest, a section of via ferrata, and up to an hour and a half with crampons on the glacier. El Chalt\u00e9n has limited capacity, and several activities operate with small groups: guided treks are limited to 14 people, and adventure activities typically have even fewer spots. Booking in advance secures your place and allows you to plan your entire itinerary.<\/p>\n No. Entrance to Los Glaciares National Park is paid separately and should be arranged in advance through the official website of the National Parks Administration.
